Hofstra University’s (Hempstead, N.Y.) 11th Presidential Conference, William Jefferson Clinton: The “New Democrat” from Hope, takes place on Nov. 10, 11 and 12. Each day of the conference will begin with a keynote address. The keynote session on Thursday, Nov. 10, begins at 9:30 a.m.

Welcoming remarks by Hofstra’s President Stuart Rabinowitz and the Conference Director Eric J. Schmertz, Hofstra’s Edward F. Carlough Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Law, will be followed by:

-- A conference overview by Douglas Brinkley, director, Theodore Roosevelt Center for American Civilization, and professor of history at Tulane University. Dr. Brinkley is the Joseph G. Astman Distinguished Conference Scholar for this event and a former Hofstra University Professor.

-- “The ’New Democrat’” by Al From, founder and CEO, Democratic Leadership Council (DLC) and chairman, Progressive Policy Institute in Washington, D.C. Mr. From was candidate Clinton’s representative on the Democratic Platform Drafting Committee, 1992.

-- “Congressional Relations with the Administration” by the Honorable Peter King, United States House of Representatives and chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee.

-- “The Chief of Staff” by Leon E. Panetta, director, Panetta Institute for Public Policy in Seaside, Calif. Mr. Panetta was President Clinton’s chief of staff (1994-1997) and director of the Office of Management and Budget (1993-1994).
