Worcester, Massachusetts.-AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) has announced an expanded contract with The Hanover Insurance Group Inc., a leading regional property and casualty company. Under the new contract, AT&T will provide enhanced voice services and migrate the company’s core network from frame relay to an Internet Protocol (IP)-enabled solution.

The Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS)-based Virtual Private Network (VPN) will help streamline data transport throughout The Hanover’s entire business network and will enhance performance and functionality. The upgrade will enable greater efficiencies around prioritizing network traffic and facilitating telecommunications among The Hanover’s nearly 50 locations nationwide.

AT&T also will continue to deliver local, long distance and toll-free calling services through AT&T’s OneNet® Service, a bundled solution tailored to meet the specific communications needs of large national companies. In addition, The Hanover will benefit from a variety of AT&T’s call-management, routing and call-processing features, which are designed to minimize cost and maximize performance and flexibility of service. AT&T OneNet Service allows for the continual migration of networks and services to new technologies, all under one initial contract and commitment.

“We are pleased to extend our relationship with AT&T,” said Michael C. Clifton, chief technology officer for The Hanover. “Through the partnership, we will continue to make it easier for our agent partners and their customers to do business with The Hanover and will provide them with the services that they need, 24 hours a day.”
