MADD Activists and Drunk Driving Victims/Survivors From Across USA to Converge in Nation’s Capital for Silver Anniversary “MADD Celebrates Life” Rally; New MADD / Nationwide Insurance Survey Conducted by Gallup to Provide Snapshot of Americans’ Attitudes about Drunk Driving

WHAT: NEWS CONFERENCE and RALLY where current and past presidents and chairmen of Mothers Against Drunk Driving join drunk driving victim/survivor families from around the nation and federal leaders to:

(1) Celebrate MADD’s 25th anniversary

(2) Announce the number of lives saved since MADD was founded in 1980,

(3) Release the results of a new Gallup survey on drunk driving in America, and

(4) Issue MADD’s recommendations to step up fight against drunk driving over next 25 years.

WHEN: THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 29, at 10 a.m.

WHERE: UPPER SENATE PARK on north side of U.S. Capitol Building between Louisiana Ave and D Street, NE, Washington, DC. (RAIN LOCATION: Room 2456 Rayburn House Office Building)

WHO: Glynn R. Birch, National President of Mothers Against Drunk Driving, who will be joined by past national presidents of MADD

-- Hundreds of activists and drunk driving victim/survivor family members from across the nation

-- Senator Frank Lautenberg (NJ), Senator Jon Kyl (AZ), and Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (CA) (invited)

-- Timothy A. Hoyt, Vice President of Safety, Nationwide Insurance

-- Dunbar Senior High School, 20-member drum line which will play a Moment of Drums cadence in celebration of number of lives saved.

B-ROLL: A b-roll tape will be available at the news conference containing footage of actual DWI crash scenes, drunk drivers taking sobriety tests, arrests, DWI offenders in jail, ignition interlock devices, historical footage, and more.
