WEBWIRE

Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), an international communications and information technology company, has been awarded a $76 million contract to supply the government of Pakistan with Falcon® II high-frequency tactical radios.

Under terms of the contract, Harris will provide Pakistan with the Falcon® II RF-5800H, an advanced, high-frequency (HF) SSB/VHF-FM system that provides reliable and secure tactical communications. Harris also will supply ancillary and support equipment, spare and repair parts, training, and logistics support.

“HF technology is critical in providing reliable communications in the rugged frontier areas of Pakistan. Harris radios will help increase collaboration and cooperation, and promote improved situational awareness,” said Ed Lockwood, vice president of international sales, Harris RF Communications. “We are pleased to have the opportunity to support the Pakistani government with radio systems that provide industry-leading information security, reliability and ease-of-use.” This is the second large order Pakistan has placed for Harris Falcon® radios in the past three years. In 2005, the Pakistani government placed a $68 million order for Harris tactical radios. The contracts establish Harris as a key supplier of next-generation tactical HF radios to the Pakistani Army.
