Ricoh Products Receive Cerner Certification

Ricoh Americas Corporation, the leading provider of digital office equipment, announced today that six of its products have achieved certification from the Cerner Corporation, the leading U.S. supplier of healthcare information technology solutions. The newly certified Ricoh products include the Aficio® AP 610n, Aficio® SP C410dn, Aficio® MP 161spf, Aficio® MP 2000, Aficio® MP 2510 and Aficio® MP 3500. With this validation, Ricoh products are now authorized for use in Cerner’s Millennium application environment – a platform that allows healthcare professionals to run tests, make diagnoses, place orders, fill medications, document care or remit bills using a single information system.
In order to achieve certification from Cerner, each product must undergo a lengthy evaluation process that tests the compatibility of peripheral devices with the Cerner Millennium platform. Cerner initially screens products for potential issues. Once the device has been given initial approval, it undergoes a further, more rigorous physical analysis. These Cerner Functional Evaluation Services are performed in the Cerner Technology Certification Laboratory, where the devices are tested in a replicated Cerner Millennium application environment.

By successfully passing the testing process, the Ricoh products will be added to Cerner’s published “Cerner Peripheral List” scheduled for release on July 2, 2007. In addition, the devices will be included in Cerner’s internal peripheral guide, a catalogue used by Cerner to assist its clients in selecting Cerner certified printing devices.
