Teledyne Brown Engineering, Inc. (TBE) announced today that since June 2001 the company has provided 50,000 hours of science operations support for the International Space Station (ISS) from Marshall Space Flight Center’s Payload Operations Center in Huntsville, Ala.

Highly-skilled Teledyne Brown personnel man the payload consoles 24 hours a day with three shifts of flight controllers. The Payload Operations Center links researchers from around the world with their experiments and astronauts aboard the ISS.

In addition to staffing the Operations Center, Teledyne Brown also monitors progress of experiments, manages the capture and downlink of experiment data, assists astronauts and science teams, and replans mission timelines to ensure maximum use of onboard resources.

“This marks an important milestone in Teledyne Brown’s support of Space science research,” said Jim Link, president, Teledyne Brown Engineering. “The company has a rich heritage in Marshall’s payload operations program dating back to Skylab. As NASA’s prime contractor for this program, we are proud to play a role in the continuation of science on the Space Station.”
