Oracle OpenWorld Asia Pacific in Shanghai to Focus on Helping Customers "Get Better Information for Better Results"

Oracle’s flagship Oracle OpenWorld Asia Pacific conference opens today at the Shanghai International Convention Center. With more than 8,000 attendees, this year’s event in Shanghai is expected to be largest Oracle OpenWorld event in Asia Pacific to date. Highlights of the four-day business and technology conference include keynotes by top Oracle executives and industry leaders such as Digital China, Hitachi and HP on innovation and partnering for success. In conjunction with Oracle OpenWorld Asia Pacific in Shanghai, Oracle will announce its latest investments in China.

Oracle OpenWorld Asia Pacific will feature an opening keynote by Oracle President Charles Phillips and Oracle Executive Vice President of Server Technologies Chuck Rozwat, on the topic “Enabling the Innovation Age - Oracle Database 11g”. Oracle Vice President of Oracle Fusion Middleware Hasan Rizvi will deliver the keynote “The Middleware Revolution” which will focus on Service-oriented Architecture (SOA), and Oracle Senior Vice President of Applications Strategy Jesper Andersen, who will deliver the keynote “Applications Unlimited”, which will discuss Oracle’s focus on giving customers the confidence and choices they need to run their businesses better, get better results, and be more competitive.

Attendees at this year’s conference will be able to register for a new program called ’Oracle Develop’. Launching for the first time at an Oracle OpenWorld event in Asia Pacific, Oracle Develop will help attendees advance their development skills and expand their knowledge at expert-led, in-depth technical sessions. They will also have access to hands-on labs, advanced how-to discussions and detailed tutorials.

To demonstrate some of its latest achievements in research and development (R&D), Oracle will have an experiential and dynamic exhibit called “Innovation +” at the conference exhibition. Created by the Oracle Asia Research and Development Center (OARDC) in collaboration with its partners, the exhibit will show how innovations of today and the near future are fused to create a fabric of intelligent, network-connected, self-aware and context-aware systems influencing work and play.

This is the third Oracle OpenWorld conference to be held in China and the second in Shanghai. The industry-leading event was previously staged in Beijing in 2002 and Shanghai in 2004. Additional highlights planned for this year’s show include:
