Going Where the Growth Is: Biofuels in Africa

Hartmut Reinke, director, DuPont Eastern, Central Europe, Middle East & Africa, recently participated in the World Economic Forum’s Africa Summit in Cape Town, South Africa, where he discussed the prospects of a “biofuel-ed future” for Africa.

Leaders from the government, businesses, academia and civil society sectors discussed how to build growth capacity and improve Africa’s competitiveness. They all agreed on the importance of a “Green Revolution” in Africa. United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan was appointed the Chairman of Africa’s first “Alliance for a Green Revolution” to address the challenges and opportunities for small-scale farmers.
