Epic Aircraft chooses PW600 family engine for its Victory VLJ

EAA AIRVENTURE, Oshkosh, Wis.- Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) today won two new contracts from Epic Aircraft. Epic chose a PW600 engine to power its Victory very light jet (VLJ). P&WC will be the exclusive supplier for the five-seat Victory starting with aircraft number 7. Epic has also selected the PT6A-67 turboprop engine to power its new six-seat Dynasty aircraft. P&WC is a United Technologies (NYSE: UTX) company.

“P&WC’s market-leading PW600 engine family is the perfect choice for the Victory VLJ,” said Rick Schrameck, chairman and CEO of Epic. “We have selected a PW615 variant to power the current Victory VLJ, with the goal of developing a PW617-powered, fully certified version of the Victory.”

“We are delighted that Epic has selected our engines for its growing fleet of aircraft,” said Claude Lachapelle, vice president, Business Aviation, P&WC. “These most recent wins lay the foundation for a long-term relationship with Epic and further confirm the leadership of our products.”

The PW615 and PW617 engines are designed to deliver significant step changes in performance, cost and durability. These new-generation turbofans meet aggressive fuel consumption and material design targets to offer a greener product to VLJ customers. The PW615 engine delivers 1,350 pounds of thrust, while the PW617 offers 1,615 pounds of thrust.

The PT6A-67 turboprop is also an undisputed leader in its class, offering efficiency of operation and easy maintenance through its simple design.

“Epic customers will benefit from P&WC’s leadership in both single-engine turbine aircraft and global customer support,” noted Lachapelle. P&WC’s support includes more than 30 P&WC-owned and designated overhaul facilities around the world, field support representatives on all major continents and a 24/7 Customer First Centre for rapid expert support.
