9/11 heroes to be "honored" by mosque-like design?

WEBWIRE

Los Angeles, CA (July 24, 2007) -- Flight 93 is known as the “flight that fought back.” How then could the committee created to honor the heroic passengers and crew be on the verge of approving a memorial design that is nothing less than the world’s largest outdoor mosque?

That’s the shocking question asked by noted blogger Alec Rawls, author of the upcoming “Crescent of Betrayal: Dishonoring the Heroes of Flight 93” (ISBN: 9780974670126, World Ahead Media, September, 2007). “The Flight 93 Memorial Committee plans to finalize the selection of this profoundly disrespectful and mocking ’tribute’ on July 28th,” says Rawls. “They must be stopped.”

In “Crescent of Betrayal,” Rawls breaks down each aspect of the Flight 93 memorial design and shows in damning detail how the main elements of the ’Crescent of Embrace’ the memorial committee is set to approve is actually a typical mosque feature built on an epic scale.

“It was bloggers, not the mainstream media, who two years ago pointed out that in this design, the field where Flight 93 came to rest would be partially surrounded by red trees exactly forming an Islamic crescent. The resulting outrage forced the minor addition of a few small trees, but it’s still a huge crescent, and a person looking directly into that crescent is facing Mecca.” Such a crescent, called a mihrab, is the central feature around which every mosque is built.

In addition to the crescent, which will be seen for miles from the air, there are even more egregious Islamic elements incorporated in the memorial. According to Rawls, “Virtually every one of the dozen primary design element in this so-called ’memorial to American heroes’ mimics the features of a mosque. For example, the minaret-like ’Tower of Voices’ is a gigantic Islamic prayer-time sundial.”

Rawls says that most mosques are memorial mosques, and that his research has proven that the “Crescent of Embrace” design is exactly that - a terrorist memorial mosque. There were 40 passengers and crew on Flight 93, but 44 commemorative glass blocks are placed along the flight path. Could the memorial committee really be paying tribute not just to the heroes of Flight 93 but to their murderers as well, via what the Memorial newsletter calls a “space for reflection, learning, social interaction, and healing?”

“How on earth was this travesty selected to pay tribute to the passengers and crew of Flight 93?” That’s the question Alec Rawls has spent two years trying to answer. “Crescent of Betrayal: Dishonoring the Heroes of Flight 93” will enrage and energize every patriotic American.

Available nationwide on 9/11/07, Crescent will be distributed to the trade through Midpoint Tradebooks, New York.
