Lenovo Names Michael J. O’Neill Senior Vice President and General Counsel

Lenovo today announced the appointment of Michael J. O’Neill as senior vice president and general counsel. He reports directly to William Amelio and is responsible for the company’s legal, corporate governance, security and government relations globally.

O’Neill, 51, was most recently a partner in law firm Howrey LLP, where he was general counsel for the firm’s international practices. O’Neill helped establish the firm’s Brussels office in 2001 and has been advising international clients in such areas as global mergers and acquisitions, and corporate practices. O’Neill also served in a business capacity on several boards, most recently for TRW International.

Prior to Howrey, O’Neill spent 16 years at Honeywell, where he held several senior legal positions, including stints as General Counsel for Europe, Middle East & Africa group, where he was based in Brussels, and the Transportation and Power Systems organization, as vice president & general counsel. He started his corporate law career with Westinghouse R&D labs after a few years in private practice.

O’Neill holds both Juris Doctor and MBA degrees from the University of Baltimore, a BA in Business Administration and Economics from Belmont Abbey College and a Masters of Government Contracting from George Washington University.
