Kodak Announces FDA Approval for Mammography CAD Software Enhancements

WEBWIRE

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Sept. 21 -- Eastman Kodak Company today announced it has obtained FDA approval for enhancements to its mammography computer-aided detection (CAD) system. New software for the KODAK Mammography CAD System increases the system’s sensitivity to microcalcification clusters while reducing the number of false positive markers. The enhanced software is now available.

This is the first update to software for the CAD system, which was launched only ten months ago. Existing customers receive software upgrades as part of Kodak’s standard one-year warranty.

“Kodak is pleased to provide another digital tool in the fight against breast cancer,” said Wido Menhardt, General Manager of the CAD Business, Kodak’s Health Group.

Kodak’s portfolio of digital image and information management solutions for mammography providers also includes the KODAK DIRECTVIEW Mammography Workstation that provides viewing of imaging modalities from multiple vendors. This mammography workstation integrates with picture archiving and communications systems (PACS) from Kodak and other vendors.

The KODAK DIRECTVIEW PACS System 5 provides efficient image review, distribution and storage for full-field digital mammography, ultrasound, MRI, CT and other digital modalities. This platform provides a comprehensive PACS solution for breast imaging centers and enables existing KODAK PACS users to easily integrate digital mammography exams into general radiology workflows.
