WEBWIRE

EDMONTON - VIA Rail Canada wishes to advise that public access to its Edmonton station, located at 121st street, will be restricted to travellers and those meeting trains, between July 20 and July 22, due to the Grand Prix race weekend.

The city of Edmonton will be shutting down 121st Street northbound from Friday morning to Sunday afternoon. Southbound 121st street will remain open, but controlled by security as access will be restricted to one lane, and East and Westbound Yellow Head Highway (Highway number 16) can be used to access 121st street from the north.

VIA Rail train services will not be impacted by the race. VIA’s westbound train #1 from Toronto to Vancouver (Saturday) and eastbound train #2 from Vancouver to Toronto (Saturday) will operate as scheduled. Regular transportation (taxi/bus) will continue to have full access to the VIA station for pickup or drop off.

VIA Rail Canada wishes to apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

For further information, passengers may call VIA toll-free at 888 VIA-RAIL.
