DHL Amon Top Finalists At American Business Awards

DHL Recognized for New Sales Training Program

DHL, the world’s leading global express delivery and logistics company, announced today it was recently selected as one of the four top finalists at the 2007 American Business Awards, known as the “Stevie Awards.” Presented yearly in recognition of an outstanding achievement in business, DHL received the award in the ’Best Human Resources Team’ category, and was the only company recognized for its achievements in sales training.

More than 2,000 entries from companies of all sizes and in virtually every industry were submitted for consideration in more than 40 categories this year. DHL was recognized for its College Recruitment Express Training (CRET) program, an 11 week educational program for new DHL sales professionals that provides a ’Fast Track’ program focused on product knowledge, selling skills, customer management and an experiential learning aimed at enabling sales representatives to develop winning customer solutions.

DHL presented a business case that illustrated its new CRET program not only had a 100% retention rate after the end of the first year, but that the graduates brought in significantly more package revenue than participants in previous programs. In addition to training on DHL’s business, industry, and market, CRET graduates learn soft skills such as listening, rapport-building, as well as identifying and understanding customer needs. The interactive program blends conventional learning methods with experiential activities that expose the participant to real-world customer situations.

“It’s extremely gratifying for DHL to be recognized for its sales training program through the ”Oscar’s“ of American business,” said Paul Read, Director of Sales Training for DHL USA who accepted the award at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City on June 11. “What’s even more gratifying are the accolades we regularly receive from customers who praise our sales consultants for their ability to listen closely to their needs, develop tailor-made transportation solutions, and provide a first class customer service experience.”

“The CRET initiative is one of many aimed at positioning DHL as the employer of choice,” said Tom Snowberger, Senior Vice President of Human Resources, for DHL. “It really illustrates our commitment to development, from recent College graduate to qualified Sales professional.”

The awards were jointly presented by Selling Power magazine, the leading sales management publication with 145,000 subscribers in 67 countries, and The Stevie(R) Awards, which have been hailed as “the business world’s own Oscars” by the New York Post (April 27, 2005).

Members of the Awards’ Board of Distinguished Judges & Advisors and their staffs selected Stevie winners from among the Finalists. Finalists were chosen by business professionals nationwide during preliminary judging in April and May.
