Network Is a Critical Enabler for Key Global Applications

San Antonio, Texas,London — AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) has announced that engineering company Norgren is using the AT&T global network as a critical enabler to deliver key global applications. With its headquarters in the U.S., Norgren is a major division of IMI plc and develops fluid- and motion-control solutions for customers operating in a variety of business areas, including the automotive, medical, printing and packaging sectors.

The deployment of the $4 million contract began last year, and AT&T is providing an Internet Protocol-based Virtual Private Network (VPN) that will connect to 79 sites* in Europe, Asia Pacific and the Americas over a period of three years. Norgren has developed an information technology strategy to deliver a global standard in network applications and security across its business around the world by using reliable, secure and managed network services.

“For Norgren to be able to run key global applications, it is important that the network is resilient and secure,” said Keith Hopkinson, global IT director, Norgren. “AT&T’s VPN technology is proven and will provide us with a single network over which these applications can be delivered securely.”

Norgren is already seeing gains from its AT&T VPN solution across the company’s global network. Norgren’s global Enterprise Resource Planning solution, supported by AT&T’s network services, is enabling Norgren to better manage stocks and significantly reduce order time. A centralised billing facility has improved ease of administration and cost control. For the company’s travelling workforce, as well as for suppliers and customers, the network has provided improved connectivity at all of Norgren’s worldwide locations.

“AT&T has demonstrated an impressive set of project management skills during the rollout of this project,” added Hopkinson. “As a supplier, AT&T is evolving with our business and has demonstrated great flexibility in working with us, something that was a key factor in the procurement process. Norgren has made a number of acquisitions over the past 18 months, and AT&T has been able to accommodate these in the global network very quickly.”
