This month, MeadWestvaco (NYSE: MWV) sets a new, global standard for GZ/SBS with the introduction and rollout of an upgrade to the popular Crescendo line, including an all-new, clean-white styling and the introduction of a coated two side, or C2S version, in Europe and the Asia Pacific region.

This improvement to the highly-regarded Crescendo product line comes after MeadWestvaco’s completion, in early 2007 of extensive global research where brand owners, printers, and service partners/merchants, expressed a clear preference for a shade of GZ/SBS that most described as “clean-white”— one not presently available in a high performing grade. The new Crescendo is consistently preferred over current grades in the market. It makes graphics and print stand out on the page.

Interviews were conducted with brand owners, printers/converters, and service partners covering the cosmetics, fragrance, confectionery, specialty food, pharmaceutical, and graphical board markets. In addition to research conducted in the Americas, the study included leading players in UK, Germany, France, Netherlands, Switzerland, and Spain.

Based on key learning from the research, MeadWestvaco has developed new styling targets for Crescendo, but retains in every other way the performance values that have made it an industry leader.
