VeriFone CEO Douglas Bergeron Wins Ernst & Young 2007 Entrepreneur of the Year Award

Douglas G. Bergeron, chairman and CEO of VeriFone Holdings, Inc. (NYSE:PAY), has been named 2007 “Entrepreneur of the Year” by Ernst & Young for the San Francisco and Silicon Valley region.

Bergeron has been chairman and CEO of VeriFone since July 2001 when he spearheaded the acquisition of the company from Hewlett-Packard in a transaction valued at $50 million, including $5 million of equity. Since that time, VeriFone’s sales have tripled and the value of the company has grown to approximately $3 billion. VeriFone now enjoys sales in over 100 countries across the world and is leading the rapid proliferation of electronic payments worldwide.

Bergeron remains the single largest private shareholder of the company.
