Harris Interactive Joins The British Polling Council
Harris Interactive® (NASDAQ: HPOL) announces its new membership in the British Polling Council (BPC) (www.britishpollingcouncil.org) an association of polling organisations that publish research results. Modeled after the National Council on Public Polls (NCPP) in the United States (www.ncpp.org), the BPC promotes standards of disclosure that ensure that the consumers of published surveys can adequately interpret the results as well as judge their reliability and validity.
“The most important role of a public opinion poll is to ensure that the voice of the public is heard,” states George Terhanian, president of Harris Interactive in Europe. “All of us at Harris Interactive are proud to join an organization dedicated to ensuring that that voice is heard clearly.”
Humphrey Taylor, chairman of The Harris Poll® at Harris Interactive, and who is also the chairman of the National Council on Public Polls (NCPP) states, “I am delighted that we are joining the British Polling Council. As we expand our global footprint to meet our clients’ growing demands for multi-country, multi-lingual, multi-mode surveys, it is very important that polls fully disclose the information needed by the media, policymakers and the public to judge the methods and relevance, reliability and timeliness of published polls. In the U.S. the NCPP has contributed substantially to the quality of reporting and understanding of polls. I am confident that the BPC will do the same in the UK. Every country needs an organisation like the BPC.”
