IBM Information Server Awarded eWEEK’s 7th Annual Excellence Award for Business Integration Software

WEBWIRE

IBM (NYSE: IBM) announced today that eWEEK, a Ziff Davis Media publication, has named IBM Information Server winner in eWEEK’s seventh Annual Excellence Awards program in the business integration systems category. IBM Information Server is a first-of-a-kind information integration software platform that provides trusted, consistent and reusable information to applications, people, and business processes.

Business integration for SOA, risk and compliance, master data management and customer-focused initiatives are helping organizations achieve competitive advantage in their business. IBM Information Server provides an end-to-end, metadata-driven information integration platform for business integration as it profiles, cleanses and integrates information from heterogeneous sources to derive greater insight into the meaning and context of information contained in applications, business tools and reports.

IBM Information Server was originally introduced last October as a key part of IBM’s global Information on Demand initiative aimed at helping clients in all industries better manage and take advantage of their business information. Since the introduction of the new platform, IBM Information Server has been installed by nearly 200 organizations worldwide including many of the world’s leading financial institutions, pharmaceutical firms, retailers, manufacturers, telecom companies, government and healthcare organizations. Additionally, analyst firms have recently cited IBM Information Server and its leading presence in the market. Forrester Research recently announced in their report “The Forrester WAVE: Enterprise ETL, Q2 2007” that IBM leads the industry in enterprise ETL, while Gartner, Inc. in their “Gartner Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Data Integration Tools, 2006” placed IBM in the Leaders Quadrant.

“This award underscores the business value that IBM Information Server provides to our clients and our partners,” said Jim Welch, vice president Information Platforms and Solutions, IBM. “We’ve experienced rapid adoption and market acceptance of this unprecedented technology, and our clients benefit from the increased flexibility and agility it provides throughout their organization. Our clients now have greater insight into their business, have decreased the time and cost associated with integrating information and are now more able to quickly identify and profitably respond to changing market conditions and customer demands. Meanwhile, our partners can now bring more complete, more cost-effective integration solutions to their clients as well.”

The eWEEK Excellence Awards program provides enterprise IT professionals with a benchmark for assessing a wide range of technology products and services. Evaluating the entries this year was a panel of experts including eWEEK Labs analysts and eWEEK Corporate Partners, providing a unique mix of technical and real-world analysis.

All of the winning products in this year’s program were announced on June 11 at eWEEK.com and will be the focus of a comprehensive special report in the June 25 issue of eWEEK http://www.eweek.com/.
