Mitel®, the trusted innovator of IP communications solutions and applications, today unveiled a portfolio of IP Trader Solutions for financial services organizations at the 2006 SIA Technology Management Conference in New York. In partnership with PAETEC Communications, Inc., the company’s offering is being shown at booth # 1416. According to financial markets advisory and thought leadership firm, TABB Group, nearly 30 percent of hedge funds are planning improvements in front-office technology by 2007.

Mitel IP Trader Solutions combine the key benefits of native IP-based telephony solutions and provides the potential of significant cost reductions and dramatic business process improvements while making teleworking, business continuity and disaster recovery as easy as plug and trade.

“The advent of new IP solutions are radically transforming the trading desktop with new, cost-efficient ways of trading and combining mobility and business continuity,” said Mitel CTO Jim Davies. “Mitel’s offering aims to provide hedge funds and boutique firms with attractively priced technology tools that will make them more efficient, productive and competitive.”

The Mitel IP Trader Solutions portfolio is comprised of the Mitel 3300 IP Communications Platform (ICP), Mobility and Team Working Solutions, as well as desktop endpoints including the recently-announced 5300 series IP Phones, the Navigator Converged Desktop Trading Solution and the Mitel IP Trading Turret.

Resilient IP Communications
Mitel’s IP Trader Solution provides clients with business continuity capabilities and operational efficiencies via IP telephony. The enterprise-grade Mitel 3300 IP Communications Platform (ICP) provides inherent resilient phone connections as well as redundant T1/E1/PRI connections, redundant hard drives and power supplies in distributed, centralized, hybrid, or hosted environments.

Team Working and Mobility Describe Live Business Gateway
Provisioned as the Mitel Live Business Gateway, the Mitel 3300 ICP provides seamless integration of IP voice and user/device presence capabilities into the powerful real-time collaboration that Microsoft’s Live Communications Server 2005 brings to programs such as Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint) and Microsoft Office Communicator 2005.

The 3300 ICP also offers a wide range of conferencing and collaboration options, including Interactive Group Communications (ICG) audio conferencing, Voice First Video solution, and the Collaboration Module of Mitel Your Assistant.

Finally, the 3300 ICP supports mobile extension, an application that enables mobile workers to access the rich features and functions of the 3300 ICP on any mobile device, teleworking and hot desking, and features an embedded wireless gateway to support 802.11 wireless end points.

5300 Series IP Phones
Through an intuitive HTML toolkit, the Mitel 5300 series of IP phones can be easily customized to provide real-time access to powerful CRM-like applications to the phone’s large (160 x 320) graphics screen to display caller information such as contact call history, last trade, personal contact profile.

Converged Desktop Trading Solution
The Mitel Navigator Converged Desktop Trading Solution (CDTS) leverages existing computer hardware to transform the PC into a powerful communications vehicle. Combined with the Mitel Your Assistant, the CDTS creates improved efficiencies by providing access to presence, collaboration, video, and instant messaging with knowledge, call, and directory management. The solution has completed pilot testing with seven financial services organizations, including a large equities firm, an exchange and a hedge fund firm.

“We were pleased to work closely with Mitel to fill a gap in the voice solutions portfolio in financial services,” said Bradley S. Jonas, chief technology officer, Bay Crest Partners, LLC. “Mitel’s proven ability to innovate, combined with a well-researched IP strategy has culminated in a powerful set of tools for traders and the financial community.”

Mitel IP Trading Turret
Mitel and PAETEC have also focused their attention on the needs of hedge funds, boutique firms, off-site branch offices and home trading with the controlled-release of the Mitel IP Trading Turret. Customer trials of the Mitel IP Trading Turret will commence in New York at Bay Crest Partners, LLC and the New York Board of Trade and in London at a large securities firm starting in July.

“The industry has been asking for this solution for some time,” said John Faccibene, vice president and general manager, Financial Services, PAETEC. “Mitel is the first to answer the long-standing needs of customers within this under served segment"
