DETROIT, Sept. 7 -- The American Red Cross Trima Blood Donation Center located at 514 East Washington Street, one block west of State Street, in Ann Arbor, celebrates its first year anniversary this month.

The Red Cross provides over 50,000 units of blood to University of Michigan Health System for patients suffering from conditions like cancer, leukemia and other serious conditions. Your blood donations at our Trima Center this past year helped fill the shelves with life saving platelets, saving many lives.

The one year anniversary celebration will be a nine-day swirl of activity from Wednesday, Sept. 7 through Thursday, Sept. 15; sponsored by the American Red Cross and five local Ann Arbor vendors who are committed to helping us save lives in the Ann Arbor community.

The Blue Nile, the Arbor Brewing Company, Mongolian Barbeque, Big Ten Burrito and Mr. Greek’s Coney Island have partnered with us to increase blood donations and awareness during the event.

Please consider donating during this wonderful celebration time; call 1-866-TRY-TRIMA (1-866-879-8746 or visit our website at http://www.givelife.org and type in TRIMA.

To donate blood you must be in general good health, weigh at least 110 pounds and be 17 years of age or older.
