Kodak, Pearson Assessments Explore Joint Development of Image Capture Products for Emerging Data Market
ROCHESTER, N.Y.- Eastman Kodak Company, a leader in innovative document imaging, and Pearson Assessments, a leader in assessment tools for education, healthcare and government applications, today announced they are exploring ways to collaborate in the development of an image-based scanning solution that Pearson will market worldwide.
“As a manufacturer of optical mark scanners used in a number of synergistic applications including academic, personality and healthcare testing, training, and commercial surveying, we are looking to partner with a leading document imaging provider that will help us better meet the specific needs of our customers. These efforts led us to Kodak,” said Todd Radtke, Director of Scanning Products, Pearson Assessments.
“Pearson customers will benefit from the combination of our collective expertise, including efficiency gains from Kodak’s leading edge in document scanning technology, ease of use and image quality, and from Pearson’s unique understanding of their customers’ applications,” said Sue Cardot, Director, Worldwide Business Development, Document Imaging, Kodak’s Graphic Communications Group. “Kodak continues to broaden its portfolio of capture products, now bringing its expertise in document imaging, and in scanner design and manufacture, to a potential set of new customers through this relationship.”
Both companies expect the discussions to result in an agreement to jointly develop desktop document scanners for the emerging data management market by the fall of 2007. In keeping with the policies of both companies, information regarding licensing agreements, financial and other details will not be disclosed.
