Imtech: Orders 62 million euro for technology on luxury yachts and cruise ships

June 7 2007, Gouda, The Netherlands – Imtech (technical services provider in Europe) announces that it has recently been commissioned by ship owners and shipyards in amongst others, The Netherlands, Germany, Italy and China to provide luxury yacht and cruise ship technological solutions worth over of 62 million euro.

The international market for luxury yachts and cruise ships continues to grow and Imtech has become one of the strongest players in this market sector. Imtech’s position in this growing market is further strengthened by the close co-operation of all four Imtech specialized competence centres in Europe, USA and China which together form the Imtech maritime cluster. This cluster counts more than sixty maritime establishments all around the world.

Imtech’s range of innovative products and services include project and site management, interfaced and integrated ship bridges, propulsion solutions, power generation and distribution, alarm and monitoring systems, local area networks on board, navigation, communication and entertainment equipment, air conditioning and climate control solutions, fire safety & sprinkler solutions and integrated security solutions. Orders have recently been received to equip more than ten luxury mega yachts, most of them in a range from 100 up to 160 metres in length, from amongst others the Dutch shipyards Feadship and Heesen, the Russian shipyard Timmerman, the Chinese shipyard Kingships in Hong Kong/Guangzhou and several German shipyards, including Lloyd Werft and TKSM Group.

Imtech also recently received an order from the Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri S.p.A. to provide technological solutions for three new cruise ships to be built for the Costa Crociere S.p.A cruise company. The ships will each be fitted with 1,130 cabins to hold a maximum of 2,260 passengers. Imtech will equip the ships with state-of-the-art and energy efficient solutions in the area of heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC). Imtech is also providing most of the engineering for these solutions. A team of German Imtech specialists is currently working on location in Italy, this being the first time that Imtech has been involved with an Italian shipbuilder on such a large scale.

The yachts are scheduled for delivery during the period 2008 – 2010 and the cruise ships in 2009.
