Hardware and Software Will Help Organize Efforts and Provide Resources That Better Assist Elderly Looking for In-Home Care

The AT&T Foundation — the charitable arm of AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) — has announced the giving of a $50,000 grant to the Family Service Association of San Antonio, Inc. (Family Service) to provide technology for the association’s “At Your Service” business venture. Family Service is a nonprofit organization that, in addition to its many youth- and family-strengthening projects, is embarking on in-home care to senior citizens.

With the creation of an additional facility on Broadway, the organization will be better able to broaden its reach and guarantee that more seniors will receive the care they need. The grant will specifically fund new computers, specialized software and technology infrastructure. The software will also help the At Your Service staff track, schedule and generate billing services and organize revenue to be reinvested into the Family Service Association and its programs. The technology provided by AT&T will give Family Service the ability to market and reach out to customers and will allow for more seniors to receive this in-home care service.

For more than 100 years, Family Service has been building strong, healthy families, protecting children from abuse, guiding youth in positive directions and helping seniors live safe and independently in their own homes. It is Family Service’s special work with seniors that has promoted the creation of this new business venture. At Your Service’s new facility will serve to better connect senior citizens with in-home care specialists, who prepare meals, run errands and provide other assisted-living services.

“Many of our elderly and disabled adults are struggling to fulfill their daily needs to be able to function and remain independent,” said Nancy L. Hard, president and chief executive officer, Family Service. “At Your Service is here to provide an affordable option that makes their lives easier, and this new facility and technology will help us grow to meet these current demands.”

“Organizations such as Family Service are so critical to helping us reach out to and care for both our senior and disabled citizens. We realize it is not easy to identify where the needs are household by household, but with effective outreach by Family Service, I think these members of our community will be able to get the services and assistance they deserve but may not be able to afford,” said Rep. Joe Farias.

“Family Service and AT&T have teamed up to provide our senior citizens with vital services that help them retain the maximum degree of self-determination and independence. Creative partnerships like these help meet our seniors’ needs in a respectful and accessible manner, and I applaud both entities for their efforts on behalf of those in need,” said Sen. Carlos Uresti.

“With the baby boomer generation entering into senior citizenship, many will be relying on the services this organization provides,” said Gene Moreno, AT&T general manager of External Affairs. “AT&T is proud to supply the Family Service Association with the upgrades and training it needs to prepare for this monumental growth and to help more people live happier lives.”
