CEA Comments on Dingell/Markey DTV Education Letter to FCC

WEBWIRE

CEA® commends the effort by Chairmen Dingell and Markey to facilitate further consumer education efforts as we move toward the digital television (DTV) transition date of February 17, 2009. The result of years of negotiation, this transition will improve our nation’s technological competitiveness, our public safety and consumers’ lives.

CEA looks forward to continuing its successful private/public partnership with the FCC to educate consumers. In addition to consumer resources on www.myCEknowhow.com, CEA has prepared a toolkit for members of Congress that provides all the necessary information for informing constituents about the DTV transition. The toolkit was distributed to all congressional offices and is available online at www.CE.org/hdtv.

As a founding member of the DTV Transition Coalition, CEA is dedicated to working with all stakeholders in the broadcasting, cable and public interest sectors to inform consumers, via www.dtvtransition.org and other tools. We strongly agree with Chairmen Dingell and Markey that broadcasters should inform their over-the-air audience with public service announcements as quickly as possible.
