Boeing [NYSE: BA] Business Jets today announced it has received an order for a 787 VIP airplane from Hong Kong real estate tycoon Joseph Lau. The order is valued at approximately $153 million at today’s list price.

The order for a 787-8 VIP airplane brings the total number of Boeing business jets sold this year to eight airplanes. Earlier this week, Boeing Business Jets announced it had secured seven new orders including six BBJs and one 787 VIP. With this new order, a total of seven 787 VIP jets have been ordered directly from Boeing.

“The 787 VIP is an extremely attractive jet for wealthy and successful entrepreneurs, especially in Asia where business is conducted over long distances. The 787 has it all - long-range capability, advanced technology and a spacious, comfortable cabin - attributes that are needed to conduct business around the world,” said Boeing Business Jets President Steven Hill. “We are honored by Mr. Lau’s confidence in Boeing jets and his relationship with Boeing Business Jets.”

The VIP-configured 787-8 offers 2,404 square feet (223.3 square meters) of cabin space. The first commercial 787 Dreamliner is scheduled to roll out of the Everett, Wash., factory on July 8.

Boeing Business Jets offers a wide variety of ultra-large cabin, long-range airplanes perfectly suited for the private jet market. The product line includes the BBJ, BBJ 2 and BBJ 3, high-performance derivatives of the commercially successful Next-Generation 737 airplane family, and Boeing widebody airplanes, including the 787, 747-8, 777 and 767. Nearly 300 Boeing airplanes are in service in the VIP market. For more about Boeing Business Jets, visit http://www.boeing.com/commercial/bbj/index.html.
