"The Senate immigration bill is a travesty."

Los Angeles, CA (May 23, 2007) – “Minutemen: The Battle to Secure America’s Borders” provides shocking insight into what’s happening as a result of America’s porous borders…the information that George W. Bush and Teddy Kennedy don’t want you to know. Among those insights? That the true number of illegal aliens in the United States numbers closer to 30 million than the 12 million illegal alien apologists cite. Legalizing that number of illegals, often uneducated, illiterate, and disease-ridden, can only mean the destruction of the United States as we know it.

“The Senate bill is a complete travesty,” asserts Jerry Corsi, co-author of New York Times bestseller Unfit for Command and author of “Minutemen”(World Ahead Publishing, hardcover, $25.95, ISBN 0977898415). “It’s an attempt by our own elected officials to destroy everything that makes the United States unique among nations - our culture, our economic and military strength, our unity. This bill should horrify every American concerned about his or her future, and those of their children.”

The city of Maywood, California, details what that future might look like if an “enforcement-first” bill isn’t passed by Congress. “Here is a city that has laid down and rolled over for illegals, just as the Senate is demanding the rest of us do,” asserts Corsi. "Local services have been stretched to the breaking point, no one even knows who lives there or how many of the residents are here illegally, although it’s likely more than half of the 50,000 residents.” Aghast at the condition of schools and hospitals, taxpayers have fled, destroying the tax base.

Yet as “Minutemen” relates, far from working with federal authorities to curb the illegal influx that has overtaxed its services, city authorities have declared Maywood not just a sanctuary city but a “safe haven,” meaning that illegals can live there with impunity – at taxpayer expense. Provide the sort of “Z” visas that the Senate bill mandates, and at the flick of George W. Bush’s pen, these illegal aliens would instantly receive many of the rights reserved for American citizens with few of the responsibilities, creating one of thousands of municipal welfare sinkholes that will in short order destroy local communities and the national economy.

“From first to last, this bill is despicable,” the “Minutemen” author asserts. “It pays lip service to enforcement on one page while eviscerating the enforcement provisions on another. It gives illegal aliens preference when it comes to welfare, federal and municipal services. It’s an open invitation to even more illegals to enter the country quickly, with the goal of acquiring easily forged documents saying that they were employed in the United States prior to January, 2007. It gives the children of illegal aliens preference over American children when it comes to college tuition. It bestows a massive tax amnesty. It would prevent law enforcement from deporting gang members and the kinds of criminals who are killing dozens of Americans each week.”

But as “Minutemen” shows, the Senate’s proposed “solution” to the immigration crisis aren’t just penalizing those who follow the rules while rewarding lawbreakers and criminals - they are creating a profound distrust and cynicism among average Americans.

“Every time the Federal government kowtows to the special interests who thrive on illegal labor, or bows to immigrant pressure groups who insist that ‘nothing can be done’ to prevent illegal immigration, more regular Americans become convinced that they have no power to change what’s going on,“ notes Corsi. ”As Jim Gilchrist and the Minutemen have proved on America’s borders, they do. But we must act now to save our country from cultural and financial devastation"

With its hard-hitting analysis of the crisis we face and insights into what must be done to secure our nation’s future, “Minutemen: The Battle to Secure America’s Borders” is a must-read for every American.
