NTIA to hold Public Safety Interoperable Communications Grant Program Public Meeting, June 4, 2007

WASHINGTON, D.C.—The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) will hold a public meeting regarding the Public Safety Interoperable Communications Grant Program from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday, June 4, 2007, at the U.S. Department of Commerce Auditorium, 1401 Constitution Avenue, N.W.,Washington, D.C. A Federal Register Notice will be posted soon providing additional information.

The Public Safety Interoperable Communications Grant Program is a $1 billion program to provide state, local and federal first responders with funds to improve interoperability communications. The program, which covers public safety agencies in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and four U.S. territories, will assist public safety agencies in the acquisition of, deployment of, or training for the use of interoperable communications systems that can utilize reallocated public safety spectrum in the 700 MHz band for radio communication.

NTIA is the President’s principal adviser on telecommunications and information policy issues.
