Media Invited To Attend Seventh International Conference on Bipolar Disorder June 7-9 in Pittsburgh

More than 1,000 researchers, clinicians and mental health advocates are expected to attend the Seventh International Conference on Bipolar Disorder, June 7-9 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh. New research will be presented covering the classification of bipolar disorders; treatment of bipolar depression; advances in neurobiology and genetics; psychoeducation and psychotherapy; medical risk prevention and intervention; and international perspectives on bipolar disorder. Media are invited to attend.

The first two days of the program will consist of scientific sessions, including presentations of late-breaking research. Topics to be presented include: clinical trial data, genetics and neuroimaging, psychosocial treatments, childhood bipolar disorder, diagnostic issues, substance abuse, medical comorbidities and women’s reproductive health.

Saturday’s program will focus on diagnostic criteria and international perspectives on bipolar disorder. There will be an advocacy/researcher dialogue and advanced psychotherapy workshops on cognitive behavioral therapy, family focused therapy, and interpersonal and social rhythm therapy.

Each day will include sessions geared toward both clinicians and individuals who have bipolar disorder and their families.
