In a continuing effort to offer competitive rates on direct-dialed calls to Asia, AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) today announced a new calling plan that offers its lowest per-minute rate yet on calls to China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Japan, Thailand and South Korea. This new plan will help thousands of residents in California keep in touch with friends and family across the Pacific Ocean, allowing them to better manage long distance costs on calls made to Asia.

Available to qualifying new and existing AT&T residential wireline customers in California, the Asia Value Calling 100 plan delivers international long distance calling for a monthly recurring charge of $8.00 for the first 100 minutes and only 8 cents a minute after the included plan minutes. This plan delivers calling to a combination of the most frequently called countries in the Pacific Rim from California, home of the largest portion of Asian and Pacific Islander households in the United States.

The Asia Value Calling 100 plan builds on AT&T’s ongoing outreach to Asian-American consumers just in time for Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. For more than 15 years, AT&T’s portfolio of products and services has included offers that cater to the needs of Asian-Americans at a great value. The company markets these products and services at culturally relevant settings, including Asian street festivals and tea houses throughout California. AT&T also continues to communicate company and product information in Korean, Chinese, Japanese, Tagalog and Vietnamese through its Asian languages Web site, att.com/world. Customer service is also available in more than 160 languages, including all of the most common Asian languages spoken in the United States.

“AT&T is proud to deliver low per-minute rates on calls to so many countries in Asia Pacific,” said Nancy Yim, associate director of Asian marketing for AT&T. “As we enter the final weeks of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, the Asia Value Calling 100 plan demonstrates AT&T’s ongoing commitment to providing quality communications between the United States and the Pacific Rim. ”
