Iowa Utilities Board to Hold Public Meeting on Marshalltown Plant Project

Public invited to attend to learn more about project and ask questions

Iowa – May 16, 2007 – Interstate Power and Light Co. (IPL), an Alliant Energy company (NYSE: LNT) announced it will participate in a public meeting on its planned 600 MW coal-fired generating station. Pending regulatory approval, the plant will be constructed near the existing Sutherland Generating Station in Marshalltown, Iowa.

The public information meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 21 at the Best Western Regency Inn, 3303 South Center Street (Highway 14) in Marshalltown. IPL will host an open house before the formal meeting beginning at 6 p.m. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. This meeting is designed to answer any questions area residents may have about the project. IPL will provide a presentation on our plans for the plant. Those in attendance will have an opportunity to ask questions of utility executives and the IPL plant design team.

A public information meeting is required by the Iowa Utilities Board and must occur no less than one month before the utility’s formal application for plant certification is filed with the Utilities Board. Utilities Board staff will facilitate the meeting.
