Return of Stena Hollandica completes duo of Stena Line’s Superferries on the North Sea

Stena Line have announced the return of Stena Hollandica to service on the Stena Line Harwich to Hook of Holland route following her lengthening and refurbishment at Lloyd Werft ship building yard in Germany. Stena Hollandica underwent the largest lengthening ever undertaken, extending the ship to 240 metres from 188.

The Stena Hollandica returns to service on the Stena Line Harwich to Hook of Holland route joining Stena Britannica, which returned to service in March, to complete the homecoming of the two newly lengthened ships, making an overall an investment of £70 million.

The result is a thoroughly enhanced onboard experience aimed at making the journey by ferry to Holland as smooth as possible for passengers. The number of cabins has increased to 395 from 192 and new high-quality Dux mattresses help ensure a good night’s sleep, so passengers wake up refreshed in Holland ready for their onward journey.

The two Superferries have completely renewed onboard features, including two restaurants, two bars, shop, cinema, Stena Plus lounge, onboard kennels for pets and a number of Captain Class and Comfort Class cabins with additional facilities. Passengers can also stay connected with both WiFi and mobile phone reception during the whole crossing.

Pim de Lange, Area Director North Sea, Stena Line, welcomed the return of Stena Hollandica, saying, “The return of the newly extended Stena Hollandica completes this period of substantial investment in the Harwich – Hook of Holland route. It is now more convenient and comfortable than ever to travel to Holland – instead of the hassle of airports, passengers can relax and enjoy the journey, whether it be a drink and dinner, followed by a film, or making the most of the quiet Stena Plus Lounge to catch up on business.”

All cabins now feature new luxurious sprung Dux mattresses and offer en-suite facilities with ‘Body Shop’ branded toiletries. Comfort Class cabins also offer a larger lower-berth bed (1200mm x 2000mm) mini bar, coffee and tea-making facilities, flat screen satellite TV, free WiFi access, hair dryer, whilst Captain Class cabins additionally offer 1400mm x 2000mm mattress double bed, fresh fruit, larger shower area and complimentary mini bar.

Stena Line offers passengers the choice of two sailings from Harwich and two sailings from Hook of Holland, one day sailing and one overnight sailing. During day crossings passengers can enjoy a leisurely passage over the North Sea and take advantage of the new onboard facilities, whilst those who opt for an overnight crossing can enjoy a restful sleep and awake at the destination the following day feeling refreshed and ready for the onward journey.
