IAMTN CEO Lady Olga Maitland Meets Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika To Discuss Remittances

WEBWIRE

IAMTN CEO Lady Olga Maitland met privately with the Algerian President, H.E. Abdelaziz Bouteflika at the Presidential Palace, Algiers.

The purpose of the meeting which was preceded by lunch was to discuss a range of topics including the remittance corridor to Algeria.

Said Lady Olga:”There are 4m Algerians living in France, as well as large communities all over Europe but especially Italy, Spain, Germany and the UK.

“The remittance corridor has had a large effect on the lives of poor Algerian families. As a result entire villages in the mountains have been rebuilt thanks to the hefty flow of money from abroad.

“The President was keen to know the costs involved, and how to make the remittance market more cost effective. In particular I mentioned Eurogiro who through their network can assist the banks and postal organisation with cost efficient solutions for global reach and thereby considerable benefits to their customers.

“The President took a particular interest in this and wanted to be kept informed on how the discussions progressed.”

The remittance market and its trends will be discussed at the forthcoming IAMTN conference, 29th and 30th October, 2007 at the Dorchester Hotel, Park Lane, London.
