Bear Stearns Appoints Head of Sales for Prime Brokerage in Europe


LONDON, England .— Bear, Stearns International Ltd today announced that it has appointed James Shekerdemian to the newly created role of Head of Sales for Prime Brokerage, Europe. Mr. Shekerdemian will be responsible for the build out of the company’s equity sales franchise in Europe to prime brokerage clients.

Mr. Shekerdemian joins from Lehman Brothers where he was the Head of the Quantitative Hedge Fund Sales Group. In his new role at Bear Stearns, he will report to Paul Brannan, Head of Prime Brokerage, Europe and to Vicki Aston-Duff and Leonardo Giangreco, Co-Heads of Equity Sales, Europe. His appointment follows that of Mr. Brannan who joined Bear Stearns at the start of May and that of Andrew Jamieson who will join Bear Stearns as Head of Equity Finance, Europe in June.

Mr. Shekerdemian has over sixteen years experience in institutional sales and capital markets prime services, including prime brokerage origination and product development in all areas of financing, stock loan and execution. Before Lehman Brothers he spent thirteen years at GNI, latterly creating and running an institutional desk for Contracts for Difference (CFD) sales via Direct Market Access (DMA) to hedge funds, having previously run a global institutional sales team. He started out at GNI in Japanese futures and options sales. Mr. Shekerdemian has an MBA from the American Graduate School of International Management, Thunderbird.

In the 2007 Global Custodian Prime Brokerage Survey, Bear Stearns was the No. 3 ranked prime broker globally.
