Monaco Evolves Its Radio Communication System With Nationwide Motorola TETRA Network
Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) today announced it has been selected by Monaco State to deliver a nationwide Terrestrial Trunked Radio (TETRA) communications network. The secure cross-functional communication network will help ensure faster and easier collaboration between Monaco’s public safety and emergency services.
Motorola will deploy a full Dimetra IP network, an initial 1500 TETRA terminals, growing to 2000, and command and control stations across the country. Dimetra IP offers a resilient, robust and reliable network for seamless communication. It is an enhanced IP-based TETRA solution that is highly flexible and scalable to integrate voice, messaging and mobile applications on a single network. Motorola will provide implementation and support services for the Dimetra IP network
Motorola is the main contractor of the project, responsible for the delivery of a complete turnkey solution, including network and coverage planning, site installation and commissioning to enable Monaco State to quickly obtain and exploit the operational benefits of their technology investment. In addition Motorola will provide maintenance and support after completion of the system. Motorola will also be responsible for the programming and installation of TETRA radios including the new MTM800 enhanced mobile radio into Monaco’s public safety and emergency service vehicles.
Commenting on the deployment, M. Raoul Viora, Director of the Monaco telecommunication regulation institution, DCCT (Direction du Contrôle, des Concessions et des Télécommunications) says: “We’re continually looking for ways to improve the country’s emergency and administration services and are confident that investing in high performance communications network is an effective way of achieving this. We’re striving to reach the very highest standards of quality and reliability and believe that Motorola will help us to accomplish this.”
“Monaco will benefit greatly from its investment in an IP-based TETRA network,” says John Gherghetta, corporate vice president and general manager, Motorola Networks & Enterprise, EMEA. “This network will enable Monaco’s emergency services to achieve new levels of integration and collaboration, which will only improve the quality and effectiveness of the services they already deliver.”
Motorola is committed to innovation on the TETRA platform including the creation of applications and solutions to enable users to realize the benefits of Dimetra IP’s comprehensive integrated voice and data capability. Motorola is a leading innovator in the TETRA community including the development and deployment of TETRA2 services including TEDS, the next-generation TETRA network specification designed to facilitate higher data transfer speeds.
