HARTFORD, Conn.,— Aetna (NYSE: ΑET) has launched an interactive, Web-based Behavioral Health Assessment (BHA) to support members and health care providers in the treatment of behavioral health issues. By using the BHA, available at www.aetnabhra.com, members will be able to better understand the emotional or mental health problems that they may be experiencing. The BHA also will benefit participating health care professionals because they will have access to information shared by their patients to assist in the development of a care plan that meets their patients’ needs. The BHA, which can be accessed by members through Aetna Navigator, will support Aetna Behavioral Health’s effort to improve effectiveness and efficiency of treatment.

“Our online behavioral health assessment is another innovative consumer tool for our members and participating health care professionals to use when they are determining the best treatment options,” said Louise Murphy, head of Aetna Behavioral Health. “With tools like the BHA, we are changing the way that behavioral health services are delivered and we are encouraging members to work with their health care professionals to find the best means to address their health and wellness needs, rather than waiting for an acute incident to occur.”

Aetna’s BHA is designed to help members by providing information, care planning, and support in adhering to their treatment plan. Members who complete the voluntary online assessment will receive tailored feedback and information helping them determine the care plan that is best for them. The BHA also provides opportunities for members to regularly complete symptom checklists, giving them the ability to track their progress and share this information with their health care professional to better coordinate their care. The Aetna BHA also allows Aetna care managers to observe the member’s progress and support the member, in conjunction with their health care professional, in improving their overall health.

Members can access the BHA at www.aetnabhra.com or through Aetna Navigator, the company’s online resource for personal benefits and health-related information. Links to the BHA will be located in the Health Programs, Site Map and en Espa ol sections of Aetna Navigator. Once at the BHA site, members will need to go through a simple registration process before they can log in and complete the assessment. All members with behavioral health benefits will have access to the site as part of their standard benefits package.

The privacy and security of each member’s information on the BHA is completely assured. The member can control who has access to their results by entering their health care professional’s identifying information. A secure log on and password are required to access the tool and protection of member information is carefully planned and tested. Only authorized users have access to view the data.
