Offering Helps Organizations Address Audit Needs Associated with Growing Regulatory Mandates and Insider Threats.

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif.- Oracle today announced the general availability of Oracle(r) Audit Vault to help organizations address regulatory requirements and insider threat concerns. Built on reliable and scalable Oracle Database infrastructure software, Oracle Audit Vault is an enterprise-class audit consolidation and management solution that enables organizations to simplify compliance reporting, proactively detect threats, reduce costs and secure audit data.

Faced with numerous regulatory mandates and increasing concerns about insider threats, organizations are utilizing database audit data as an important security measure, enforcing the trust-but-verify principle. Oracle Audit Vault delivers an in-depth and comprehensive view of audit data pulled from the database, helps to ensure the integrity of this information and can reduce the cost of compliance by making it easier for auditors and security personnel to manage and report on this data. Using the product, organizations can consolidate audit silos across their enterprise and securely house the audit data in a single location. Additionally, Oracle Audit Vault’s alerting capability assists organizations in detecting unauthorized access early, helping mitigate risk and potential financial liabilities.

“With legislative mandates and security threats on the rise, it is increasingly important for organizations to adopt and implement comprehensive protection and compliance initiatives,” said Trent Henry, Senior Analyst, Burton Group. “Given the critical information at stake, database auditing and monitoring solutions are fundamental for today’s environment because they serve a dual purpose -- helping streamline audit reporting while improving an organization’s overall security.”

Oracle Audit Vault is a key solution within Oracle’s comprehensive Governance, Risk and Compliance offering, incorporating the company’s leading data warehouse, partitioning and security products. Organizations can use Oracle Audit Vault to centrally manage their database auditing configuration, making it easier to deploy consistent, uniform audit policies. Additionally, customers can take advantage of Oracle Audit Vault’s open data warehouse schema and generate reports from their audit repository using the business intelligence (BI) tool of their choice, including Oracle BI Publisher or other third-party reporting tools.

“Today more than ever, organizations face a complex web of mandates that impact overall business processes as well as IT strategies,” said Vipin Samar, vice president, Database Security, Oracle. “Oracle Audit Vault further validates Oracle’s position as a leader in providing the industry’s most innovative and comprehensive data security products and capabilities that help companies secure audit data and meet legislative mandates.”

“Companies are aiming to manage compliance costs while minimizing operational and performance impact. They are seeking technology that addresses compliance requirements as well as strengthens security,” said Shahed Latif, Principal, KPMG LLP, the audit, tax and advisory firm. “Using products that can help simplify compliance reporting is consistent with our view that technology can play a critical role in automating controls and increasing effectiveness.”

Delivering Value to Customers and Partners
Customers and partners that participated in the Oracle Audit Vault beta program quickly recognized the product’s unique ability to help streamline audit requirements associated with regulations across a number of industries, such as the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Act, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Payment Card Industry (PCI) data security standard. The audit data managed and stored in Oracle Audit Vault helps organizations prove to auditors that they have appropriate and effective preventative controls in place that satisfy regulatory requirements. For example, a financial services organization could use Oracle Audit Vault to verify its SOX compliance by auditing transactions and monitoring user activities across multiple financial systems.

Oracle Audit Vault presents systems integrators (SIs), independent software vendors (ISVs) and consulting companies with an opportunity to add value to their existing services and solutions. SIs can incorporate the product into their consulting and risk management practices while ISVs can embed Oracle Audit Vault into their product portfolios to help their customers mitigate insider threats and rapidly comply with regulatory requirements.

“The ability to attest to the integrity of audit data is one of the most critical components of any organization’s compliance program,” said Michael O’Donnell, managing director, Protiviti. “Oracle Audit Vault will help to streamline this historically manual and resource intensive process. Through our market presence and client interactions we realize the benefits this product can deliver and plan to incorporate it into our comprehensive portfolio of risk management services.”

“Integrating the status of application and database activity with system and network events is crucial to developing a reliable and comprehensive enterprise view of security, risk and compliance,” said Hugh Njemanze, chief technology officer and executive vice president of Research and Development at ArcSight. “Now with Oracle Audit Vault we have a unique insight into business process activity that we can correlate with infrastructure events to produce a real time view of both insider and external threats.”

“Proactively detecting and reporting on unauthorized access and unauthorized changes are the one-two punch Tripwire Enterprise and Oracle Audit Vault provide to help IT streamline compliance and mitigate risk,” said Dan Schoenbaum, senior vice president, Business Development and Marketing, Tripwire. “Moreover, by aggregating and securing audit data from multiple sources, Oracle Audit Vault will ease the effort and complexity of our customers’ data consolidation and compliance reporting.”
