Award-Winning Scanner Now Includes Visioneer OneTouch

PLEASANTON, Calif. - The Xerox DocuMate™ 152 duplex scanner has been upgraded with the incorporation of Visioneer OneTouch® with Kofax® VRS™ technology that automatically improves the image quality of faded or degraded original documents at the press of a single button. This technology combines the ease of Visioneer OneTouch scanning, with the superior image enhancement of Kofax Virtual ReScan® (VRS) software. The DocuMate 152 is the only duplex scanner under $500 to include Kofax VRS, which is directly integrated into the OneTouch scanner driver rather than bundled as a separate utility. For details on how, visit www.xeroxscanners.com/vrs.
The Visioneer OneTouch driver also has the ability to automatically drop scanned images into Microsoft SharePoint®, Kofax Ascent® Capture, Hyland OnBase® and Datacap Taskmaster®. Only Xerox DocuMate scanners offer these links across its entire product line from sub-$500 desktop scanners all the way up to its $5,000 production scanners.

“The next generation of scanner technology is not just about scanning images faster and cheaper It’s about solving real world problems such as scanning receipts that are hardly legible, scanning colored multi-part shipping forms that are difficult to read from smudge marks, and scanning reports that have been highlighted with markers, all at the push of a button so that the user is practically unaware of the complex technology at work,” said John Capurso, vice president of marketing for Xerox DocuMate scanners. “Clean, laser quality documents are easy to scan, but that’s not the real world. When mixed documents with highlights, colored background and fills or faded print are scanned as black and white (to reduce file size and maximize scan speeds), the scans are usually unreadable. Visioneer OneTouch with Kofax VRS technology delivers near perfect scans from poor originals and made the impossible, possible.”

The Xerox DocuMate 152 is a small, easy-to-use, color sheetfed scanner designed for desktop use and allows users to scan double-sided documents at speeds up to 30 images per minute. The scanner includes over $600 in bundled software, such as ScanSoft PaperPort, OmniPage Pro OCR, X1 Desktop Search, NewSoft Presto! BizCard, Visioneer OneTouch with Kofax VRS technology and an advanced TWAIN driver.

“The tight coupling of Kofax VRS technology with Visioneer OneTouch is a major breakthrough in the information capture and scanning markets because it will enable users of Xerox DocuMate scanners to automatically improve the quality of every image they scan,” said Rob Klatell, chief executive officer of Kofax’s parent company, DICOM Group.

In July 2006, the Xerox DocuMate 152 received the prestigious Editors’ Choice Award from PC Magazine and was given a rating of 4½ out of 5. In the review, published on July 21, PC Magazine’s lead analyst for printers and scanners, M. David Stone, said, “Document scanners like the DocuMate 152 are small enough to fit easily on a desktop and fast enough for a small office to use them for document management as well. But most scanners in this group don’t come with the software you need. And it’s on the software side of the package that this scanner shines.”
