NEW YORK - EDO Corporation (NYSE: EDO) has been selected by Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) to provide the ALR-95 tactical radar Electronic Support Measures (ESM) and surveillance system for seven P-3C aircraft. The contract is valued at more than $8 million with deliveries beginning in mid-2008.

As prime contractor to the U.S. Navy’s Naval Air Systems Command, Lockheed Martin is the mission system integrator for upgrading the P-3C aircraft’s mission avionics. Lockheed Martin and EDO have collaborated for 10 years to provide the U.S. Government and foreign military customers with an ESM solution in support of the P-3C aircraft.

The ALR-95 is a state-of-the-art maritime-patrol ESM system that enhances the aircraft’s survivability by detecting, identifying, and locating hostile radar signals early and efficiently. With this information, the aircrew is able to react to the threat.

“EDO’s extensive line of Electronic Support Measure products are used in airborne, ground, and shipborne monitoring systems around the world,” said James M. Smith, EDO’s chief executive officer. “The selection of our ALR-95 system for this program underscores our strong position in providing airborne ESM systems for the P-3 community.”

The P-3C Orion is a highly maneuverable aircraft primarily designed for reconnaissance, anti-submarine and anti-surface vessel operations. It has proven to be very effective in its maritime patrol mission including combating the complex challenges of the war on terrorism, arms smuggling, and drug trafficking at sea.

EDO Corporation designs and manufactures a diverse range of products for aerospace, defense, intelligence, and commercial markets. Major product groups include: Professional and Engineering Services, Defense Electronics, Communications, Aircraft Armament Systems, Undersea Warfare, and Integrated Composite Structures. EDO’s advanced systems are at the core of the transformation to lighter, faster, and smarter defense capabilities.
