Eco-Furniture.com Striving For Sustainability

LAKE FOREST, California—Eco-Furniture.com, the leading eco-friendly furniture retailer on the web, announced today it is working toward an inventory of certified wood products. The announcement, made by CEO Sunil Wagle, comes on the heels of this past Sunday’s Earth Day celebration. A certified forest is one that is managed by one of the third-party regulating entities, such as the Canadian Standards Association, the Forest Stewardship Council, and the Sustainable Forest Initiative.

These certified forests produce wood that is sustainably harvested, whereby ecosystems aren’t impacted by the loss of trees and that replanting occurs after harvesting. The basic tenet is that the amount of goods and services yielded from a forest should be at a level the forest is capable of producing without degrading the soil, watershed features or seed source for the future. Sustainable harvesting also takes into account the potential damage to vegetation and wildlife.

Eco-Furniture’s parent company, GREENCulture, Inc. has been a leader in making environmentally responsible products available to the general public since 1994, specializing in furniture, compost bins, gardening supplies, and solar and Energy Star lighting.
