Tektronix Enhances Spectra2 to Enable Productivity Improvement for Comprehensive IMS and VoIP Testing

Tektronix, Inc. (NYSE: TEK), a leading worldwide provider of communications network management and diagnostics solutions, announced the availability of the newest release of its powerful, scalable Spectra2 test solution. Release 5.2 significantly enhances Spectra2 to provide a complete diagnostic test solution for network operators and equipment manufacturers developing platforms and service offerings in the increasingly complex communications environment for VoIP, IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) and converged networks.

Spectra2 v5.2 extends Tektronix’ leadership in IMS testing by providing a comprehensive Single Box IMS Test and Generation solution and protocol depth for core IMS testing. Enhancements in SIP testing are included with the addition of a SIP dynamic parameter management feature, positioning the product as a leading SIP testing platform for VoIP and IMS environments. Spectra2 v5.2 also offers increased productivity with improved converged network testing capabilities, including the ability to monitor and generate ISDN and perform Multi-protocol Call Tracing and Failed Call Analysis. Release 5.2 also extends the Spectra2 voice testing features to video. All of these powerful capabilities are delivered in the same integrated, easy-to-use portable format Spectra2 customers have come to rely on.

Release 5.2 builds on the scalable, easy-to-use and full-featured Spectra2 platform, adding important IMS, converged network, media over IP and productivity enhancements, as well as new SIP parameter control capabilities. Customers have the ability to upgrade their existing Spectra2 platform with the new applications and functions without having to purchase a different, incompatible hardware platform.

-IMS Test Suite - Spectra2 v5.2 solution offers coverage for core IMS testing by providing Diameter protocol monitoring and traffic generation aimed at testing call session control functions, home subscriber servers, application servers.
-SIP Dynamic Parameter Management - The SIP traffic generation function has been enhanced to include dynamic parameter management that provides a powerful framework for manipulating the dynamic parameters found in SIP message streams. This significant feature set future-proofs test networks, allowing compatibility with new SIP extensions as they become available.
-Multi-protocol Call Tracing - This feature set enhancement increases workforce productivity through the addition of analysis and filtering tools. These tools enable the convergence of multiple call legs into a single flow accompanied by visualization aids such as ladder diagrams.
-Failed Call Analysis - This feature enhances Spectra2 with the ability to rapidly identify failure scenarios that occur during long-term traffic runs, enabling increased workforce productivity.
-Video Telephony - Release 5.2 extends Spectra2’s voice testing feature to video with the addition of support for testing and generation of video telephony media. This enables Tektronix’ customers to test video call capabilities with load testing and quality of service from one system.
-ISDN (Monitor/Generator) - Release 5.2 extends the solution’s converged network test support by providing the ability to monitor and generate ISDN traffic both with and without media, positioning the Spectra2 solution as a single test solution for testing legacy and next generation networks.
