Pioneer yesterday announced that Audio Video Concepts won its PRS Demo Vehicle Build-Off contest, having built the best sound quality and installation vehicle at the company’s annual dealer road show in Tucson, Arizona. Thirteen vehicles, built by Pioneer’s top Premier dealers in the country, each equipped with a top-of-the-line Premier audio system, were evaluated by official IASCA judges for creative installation and audio quality. After a day of judging, Will Adcock, Moe Sabourin and Harry Kimura declared that the 2008 Jeep Patriot built by Audio Video Concepts of Kenner, LA displayed the most realistic audio reproduction within IASCA rules, followed by the 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX by Cartronics and the 1999 Mercedes CLK 450 by Sound Sensations in third place.

“I’m extremely proud of our dealers for putting together an amazing array of high caliber cars in such a short period of time. Each car truly showed the creativity and hard work involved in building them. All of them are worthy of the Pioneer trophy,” said Larry Rougas, vice president of marketing and product planning for the mobile entertainment division of Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc.

Retailers participating in the build-off were provided with identical Premier audio systems to install in the vehicle of their choice. A DEH-P880PRS headunit, PRS-D4100F 4-channel amplifier, two PRS-D1100M mono amplifiers, a pair of TS-C720PRS 6-1/2” component speakers and two TS-W3001D4 12-inch subwoofers were required to be used for each build with the ability to add more Pioneer products. No other manufacturer’s audio products could be added to the system.

The winner received the First Annual Pioneer Premier Reference Series Demo Vehicle Build-Off trophy and a cash prize. Second through fifth place winners also received special recognition and cash prizes.
