Lockheed Martin colunteers honored for giving 149,000+ service hours to better North Texas

FORT WORTH & DALLAS,- More than 3,825 Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] employees received President George W. Bush’s prestigious Volunteer Service Award during National Volunteer Week, The award recipients were among thousands of Lockheed Martin employees nationwide who collectively reported more than 1.3 million volunteer hours in 2006. Since 2002, more than 3.4 million hours have been logged on the company’s Lockheed Martin Volunteers Web site.

In the Dallas-Fort Worth area, 431 Lockheed Martin employees in the corporation’s Aeronautics, Missiles and Fire Control and Enterprise Information Services companies received the honor for their collective 149,841 hours of volunteer service.

Employees were eligible for the award if they logged more than 100 volunteer hours on the corporation’s volunteer Web site for 2006. The President’s Volunteer Service Award is issued by the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation, an organization created by the president to help foster a culture of service, citizenship and a sense of responsibility by encouraging outstanding volunteer service and civic participation. The award consists of a pin, a letter from President Bush and a certificate of appreciation in the name of the employee.

Lockheed Martin volunteers are involved with a wide variety of community service projects including blood donor drives, health and human service programs, mentoring and tutoring programs in schools and projects that support military organizations.

Lockheed Martin presented the President’s Volunteer Service Awards to eligible employees during National Volunteer Week. Additionally, the corporation honored every employee who entered hours on the Lockheed Martin Volunteers site by sending them a certificate of appreciation for their volunteer service.

The corporation reported 2006 sales of $39.6 billion.
