AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) today announced that AT&T data services rank highest in customer satisfaction among large enterprise business customers, according to J.D. Power and Associates 2007 Major Provider Business Telecommunications StudySM.

The annual study of data service users cited AT&T for its exceptional performance in the areas of performance and reliability, image, sales representatives or account executives, and customer service.

“At AT&T, our goal is to deliver the best customer experience in the industry, and we believe that we are only as good as our customers say we are,” said Andy Geisse, executive vice president of Worldwide Customer Service. “We believe that the J.D. Power and Associates study is a strong vote of confidence from a broad swath of customers that we are making strong progress in this area. We appreciate the recognition from our customers even as we continue to work hard to improve the experience for each and every one of them,” Geisse said.

The study measured customer satisfaction with providers of data services, such as cable modem, DSL, T1, T3/DS3, Ethernet and Frame Relay. AT&T received the highest ranking among large enterprise businesses (companies with 500 or more employees). In all, 2,855 business customers in the U.S. participated in the study.

According to J.D. Power and Associates, customer service and enhanced account management were shown to be increasingly important among large enterprises, as better customer service became the top reason why businesses in this segment would consider switching data providers — up from the fourth most frequently cited reason in its 2006 study. It added that providing more customized service options to businesses is one way many legacy telephone providers are rededicating themselves to providing the best product and service experience they can possibly deliver.
