Regulator is Key Component for Engine Ice Protection

PHOENIX,- Honeywell (NYSE: HON) announced today that it has been selected by Boeing to provide the Engine Nacelle Anti-Ice Regulators for the B787 aircraft.

Honeywell will provide a Nacelle Anti-Ice Regulator for each nacelle of every B787 aircraft, all engine types.

“This Honeywell product provides a critical line of defense against engine icing,” said Steve Pitts, Honeywell Vice President, Boeing Business Segment. “The high reliability design of this product will ensure the optimal operation of the B787 engines and the safety of the aircraft in potential icing conditions.”

The engine nacelle anti-ice regulator opens to allow the flow of hot air extracted from the engine compressor section through a steel duct down to the engine cowling. After passing through the regulator, the hot air flows through a series of openings in the engine cowl to prevent ice from forming. It is a proven, robust design with more than 7,000 units in the field today.

Boeing has selected Honeywell to provide many other systems on the 787 airplane. These systems include: Flight Control Electronics, Inertial Reference Systems, Integrated Navigation Radios, Air Data Reference, Flight Management, Communications Management, Crew Information and Maintenance Systems, and Exterior, Cargo and Service Lighting.
