The Rolls-Royce Trent 700 has won its first order for the recently-launched Airbus A330-200 freighter through Guggenheim Aviation Partners (GAP), a subsidiary of Guggenheim Partners. GAP has selected the engine for up to six aircraft in a deal worth around $200 million to Rolls-Royce at list prices. Deliveries to the US-based cargo leasing specialist will start in 2010.

GAP customers will also be offered a Rolls-Royce TotalCare® service package, under which Rolls-Royce takes full responsibility for engine maintenance.

Chris Cyr, Executive Vice President - Americas at Rolls-Royce, said: “The Trent 700 is the most capable engine for the A330F, providing freighter operators with the greatest operational flexibility in terms of route and network options. It is also the cleanest and quietest engine for the aircraft, making it an excellent choice for operators to minimise their environmental impact.

“This decision also establishes a new relationship for us as Guggenheim Aviation Partners joins the growing list of Trent customers.”

The Trent 700 is the only engine on the A330 that has been specifically designed for the aircraft, resulting in better performance, reliability and maintenance costs. It is the market leader on the A330 with a 42 per cent share of orders and 35 customers and operators.

A programme of continuous improvement, involving the retrofitting of latest Trent family technology, ensures that the Trent 700 will offer increased benefits to customers, such as the lowest fuel burn of any engine on the A330 freighter.
