Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has been honored with a 2007 Nunn-Perry Award for its role as a mentor for Hi-Tech Electronic Manufacturing, Inc. of San Diego in the U.S. Department of Defense Mentor-Protege Program.

The Nunn-Perry awards recognize outstanding efforts by Defense Department prime contractors, or mentors, in developing the technical and business capabilities of their protege small businesses.

“This award -- the 17th for Northrop Grumman -- demonstrates Northrop Grumman’s deep level of commitment to the Mentor-Protege Program,” said Tizoc S. Loza, Northrop Grumman’s corporate project manager for mentor-protege programs. “The partnerships formed undoubtedly and decisively benefit both mentor and protege companies, and strengthen our nation’s industrial base.”

Northrop Grumman’s Mission Systems sector helped Hi-Tech Electronic Manufacturing, or HiTEM, enhance its manufacturing processes and technical expertise to enable production of printed circuit boards at higher volumes and develop an electronics chassis integration capability. HiTEM has become a key supplier of printed circuit boards for Northrop Grumman’s software-defined radio products for advanced fighter avionics systems.

HiTEM, a small disadvantaged business founded in 1997, specializes in circuit-card and system box-build assemblies for original equipment manufactures in aerospace, defense and specialized commercial markets.
