Oracle Retail to Support Holliday Classic Growth Across Russia

WEBWIRE

WORLD RETAIL CONGRESS, BARCELONA - Holliday Classic, the largest food retailer in Siberia, has selected Oracle(r) Retail merchandising and stores applications to support its aggressive expansion plans. Holliday Classic aims to increase its number of stores to 200 supermarkets by 2011, and is focused on becoming one of the top ten food retailers in Russia with revenues reaching US$3 billion by that same year. Oracle Retail applications will help create a standardized merchandising platform and set of best practices to support Holliday Classic’s expansive acquisition strategy and planned organic growth.

Over the last year, Holliday Classic has doubled its number of stores to 60 primarily through organic growth. The retailer is now also planning to grow through acquisitions. In order to successfully manage the integration of these new stores and create a platform to improve and simplify the process moving forward, Holliday Classic needed a scalable, central merchandising system alongside proven best practices that would effectively support this strategy.

Following an extensive analysis of the market, Holliday Classic identified Oracle Retail as the best fit for its strategic requirements. Designed specifically for retailers, the Oracle Retail suite delivers a single, scalable platform supporting a comprehensive set of processes that Holliday Classic will use to improve its forecasting capabilities to generate more accurate forecasts of consumer demand. It will also help the retailer drive better inventory management and allocation throughout its stores.

Oracle Retail’s proven ability to deliver rapid value while supporting integration with future implementations also influenced the retailer’s decision. Holliday Classic is currently implementing the Oracle Retail Merchandising System, Oracle Retail Demand Forecasting and Oracle Retail Store Inventory Management applications with support from Accenture. Completion of the project is planned for later this year.

“We analysed both the solutions available on the market and the infrastructures behind leading European food retailers before selecting the system that could best support our aggressive development plans,” said Alexy Zakharov, managing director of Holliday Classic. “Oracle Retail has supported the expansion of many leading food retailers and we are looking forward to benefiting from this experience. Holliday Classic is pleased to take this strategically important step of partnering with Oracle Retail and developing a new retail structure that we believe will sustain our leadership in Siberia and drive our growth across the Russian market.”

“Holliday Classic’s decision to partner with Oracle Retail signals the overall growth in importance of retail throughout Russia,” explains Graham Newland, Senior Director Retail EMEA, Oracle Retail. “Oracle places great importance on building the retail industry in emerging yet rapidly developing markets like Russia. We’re keen to help develop these markets further by sharing our experience in working with many of the world’s largest retailers.”
