Photobucket Provides Platform for Mandy Moore Video Remix Promotion

WEBWIRE

PALO ALTO, Calif. - Photobucket, the leading personal media site where over 39 million people search, upload and share their own content, has been selected to promote Mandy Moore’s latest single “Extraordinary” to high school students around the country, by providing the tools for an innovative video remix contest. This is the latest example of entertainment brands using new sponsorship models to reach key social networking demographics.

Through April 30th, Photobucket users and Mandy Moore fans are invited to create video mash-ups from their own personal content remixed with branded Mandy Moore images, video and music assets provided by the artist. The mash-ups are created with Photobucket’s new web-based remix service, powered by Adobe, Inc. and available free of charge to all Photobucket users. The best entry will win an opportunity to have Moore perform at their high school graduation.

“Mash-ups hold great appeal for brands who want to tap the social media crowd. It’s a key part of our offering for advertisers, and something we’ll be doing a lot more of in the future,” said Alex Welch, CEO at Photobucket. “By allowing their own digital assets to be mixed with user-generated content, entertainment brands and artists, such as Mandy Moore, can engage with their fans in a much more interactive way.”

Completed remix videos will be submitted to the high school social networking site, MyYearbook.com, where users will vote for their favorites and Mandy Moore will personally select the overall winner.

“There are times when everyone hits a point of wanting to go beyond their perceived limits. To be able to reach out to high schools and be a part of something that involves music – especially this record – is just incredible,” said Mandy Moore. “To be involved with Photobucket and this promotion is nothing less than a huge honor. I want to thank everyone involved for all your hard work and support.”

“Graduation is a rite of passage for any high school student, and something they care deeply about, so we’re excited to be involved with this promotion and the social broadcasting opportunity it presents,” said Geoff Cook, President at MyYearbook.com. “Photobucket reaches more than 39 million active users, who care deeply about creating and sharing new content, so I know we’ll see some really innovative videos in this contest.”
