Airport parking industry tackles CO2 emissions

As environmental issues become top of the political and social agenda the airport parking industry is taking its responsibility in reducing CO2 emissions very seriously.

IAPRA, The Independent Airport Park and Ride Association, is backing an initiative by some of its members to offset the CO2 emissions caused by airport shuttle buses. One of the companies supporting the initiative is IAPRA member Airparks Services. The conservation charity World Land Trust has been chosen by IAPRA members to offset their carbon emissions by regenerating forests in Ecuador. Native species are being planted on land next to the existing forest in order to take CO2 out of the atmosphere.

The Chief Executive of World Land Trust John Burton explains: “The method we use to offset carbon emissions through restoration ecology helps to slow down the effects of climate change while also providing a safe haven for thousands of threatened species of flora and fauna”.

Airparks Services is offsetting the carbon emissions caused by its shuttle buses at no extra cost to customers.
